To whom it may concern,
What the provincial government is proposing is a way to interfere with municipal affairs with the goal to protect their own political agenda even when it goes against the wellbeing, benefit and will of the municipality's population.
Bike lanes don't create traffic, cars do. Preventing municipalities to find better solutions to the challenges of moving people and goods by imposing car lanes over bike lanes will only lead to more issues in the future.
Not only do cars generate gridlock, they are also responsible for air pollution that leads to over a thousand premature deaths a year in Canada.
It's also 2024 and the effects of climate change, of which traffic pollution is a main contributor, are well documented and should not be ignored when making decisions that will impact ourselves and future generations.
