I do not believe that this will help contribute to a better environment for Ontarians or lead to reduced gridlock. Adding another car lane is never the solution and if we want to prioritize green living and reducing emmissions, we should be building as many bike lanes as we can and prioritizing that mode of transportation. It's clean, it takes up less space than driving, and it has a much lighter impact on the roads than cars do, leading to reduced surface degradation, longer lasting roads, and less plastic tire wear on the ground and in the air.
This bill will not do anything that it sets out to do and it will only harm the standards of living and the environment around. We should be building better safer cycling infrastructure quicker, not hamstringing it in political red-tape.
