As a taxpayer who cycles in the city to get around, I am imploring this government to prioritize their residents’ safety. Simply put, bike lanes save lives. Studies from around the world show bike lanes ease congestion, reduce emissions and are a boon to business. I expect the Ontario Government to focus on building public transit AND safe cycling infrastructure AND education to new and current drivers regarding bike safety; something that is in their purview and will help with traffic.
