As a resident of Toronto, the provincial government should NOT have the power to prevent construction of municipally-assessed bike lanes! We elect our own local representatives to make decisions about what is needed municipally - why should the provincial government have a say over issues that are altogether not within its jurisdiction? Furthermore, as both a cyclist and a driver in downtown Toronto, any bike lane removals will endanger both my life and the lives of my loved ones, and subject me to increased risk of accidentally killing someone else in the road while driving.
I am strongly against this bill and will not be voting for Doug Ford or the Ontario conservatives in the future if it is passed.
