Keep the bike lanes and add to them by building out the network.
Active transportation reduces emissions and congestion. Fewer cars on the road make space for those who really need to drive. Fewer cars means less requirement for car storage on the street, which is a misuse of public space.
Increased physical activity improves mental and physical health and reduces provincial healthcare costs.
Using bike lanes is equitable. It allows children, people on mobility devices and people who don’t own cars to move safely, freely, and publicly through the city.
Outside of a car, people connect with communities and landscapes and interact with the social and physical environment. They show their better selves, whilst behind the wheel of a car, they often show their worst.
