Do not remove Toronto bike lanes. Bike lanes increase personal safety and save bicyclist lives. There is abundant existing evidence to support the concept that bike lanes significantly reduce traffic congestion.
The province should not be interfering in municipal planning at this micro level.
Removing existing bike lanes and introducing additional barriers to future bike lanes is a backwards step in traffic management.
Ontario municipalities should have the freedom to create bike lanes as required as part of the municipal planning process.
The province should stay out of it.
