Ontario is totally mismanaging moose. It needs to test its harvest guidelines through adaptive management. It needs realistic harvest planning. When the harvest cannot be attained, something is seriously wrong. It needs a harvest control tool that ensures planned harvest is not exceeded. It needs to include First Nations and non-hunters in all levels of decision making, especially on the Minister’s advisory committee. It needs more realistic evidence and fewer computer simulations to understand what is happening in the field rather than on a computer screen.
As far as the proposed enhancement to the tag distribution process goes, it is just more confusing, more steps, and about as user unfriendly as is possible. Go back to group applications.
