Bill 212 is a gross overstep of authority into the rights and freedoms of municipalities. It is an environmental disaster in multiple ways. Skipping an environmental impact assessment before a massive undertaking like a new highway will lead to significant impacts on the quality of our drinking water, wildlife, and farms.
Removing bike lanes will lead to the deaths of citizens all over Ontario. It will reduce the number of people biking and will make more people drive cars, leading to more traffic. Every single study on expanding lanes shows that it does not decrease commute times, it only leads to more gridlock. Bike lanes are positive for a community in every way and it is shameful for the government to play identity politics with peoples lives. Everyone deserves the right to go to work, take their children to school, and enjoy their community safely, regardless of their chosen method of transportation.
Stay out of municipal politics. Keep cities independent. They know more about their citizens needs than your ignorant, corrupt, anti-science provincial government
