I work at Conagra, and like so many others in this region, my job depends on the health of our land, water, and crops. We’re proud to be known as the tomato capital of Canada, but that identity and our livelihoods would now be at risk. Bringing in tonnes of waste every day threatens to do serious harm to the environment that supports our entire agricultural industry. What happens if groundwater becomes contaminated, or if the air quality declines from constant truck traffic and landfill emissions? What happens to the fields, the crops, and the reputation we’ve built over generations? If the environment suffers, the farms suffer....and if the farms suffer, companies like Conagra suffer. That means real people losing real jobs. We cannot gamble with our future like this. A full environmental assessment isn’t just about protecting nature...it’s about protecting the thousands of families whose incomes rely on it. We deserve answers before decisions are made.
