Water is a basic human right yet our Indigenous Communities don't all have the infrastructure or water to use, like the Six Nations in Ontario. Municipalities are to put in infrastructure and supply each property with water.
Due to the changing weather patterns we are seeing in the last decade like less snow cover and faster melt as well as drought conditions with less rain (like this year again), Ontario needs to prioritize keeping the water and ground water than they are blest to have and use it in a sustainable way to last for generations. There is less water and peatlands for the water to be filtered for reuse. That reuse makes our water more sustainable.
Allowing private companies to take our water and sell it for an outrageous profit is not sustainable, especially when the water bottles that they sell are plastic and not necessarily recycled.
The government needs to supply the needs of the public, not private companies. The government needs to think about the future generations when making policies that are sustainable and will keep our water available for all.
The government should not be giving our precious water away for companies to make a lot of profit on. We need that water to be available for taxpayers in all regions to be more self-sufficient when it comes to our water.
The giving of permits should be limited are non-existent. Applications should have people scrutiny and should be very limited and not transferable. A human right should not be for sale. The government needs to forward thinking and not just think of the next few years.
