I’m writing to express my concern around the proposed sale and development of public land at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.
While I agree that some revitalization is necessary in the town of Wasaga Beach, the sale of such a significant portion of the provincial park is quite concerning and could have a significant impact on the environment and the local community.
Provincial parks are meant to protect nature, support biodiversity, and provide accessible green space for everyone, not to be sold off for private profit.
I urge the Ontario government to keep Wasaga Beach public, protected, and undeveloped.
Additionally, for the public to better comment and better understand the proposal, it would be incumbent on the municipality to share information around what this plan truly entails before the August 11th deadline for comments. What types of developments do they intend to approve on these lands? What will the impact be? Will the entire area be removed from free public use, or will some portions be retained and managed as Parks by the municipality?
