The cumulative environmental impact of multiple fill or dumping sites, especially in ecologically sensitive and significant areas like Caledon — near a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and at the headwaters of the Credit River — is deeply alarming. These natural assets aren’t just local treasures; they’re vital to regional biodiversity, clean water, and long-term ecological health.

Allowing dumping in such zones jeopardizes our water systems, wildlife, soil integrity, and ultimately, public health. Once damaged, these ecosystems are incredibly difficult — and often impossible — to fully restore. And as you rightly pointed out, Canada is already facing escalating climate threats. We need resilience, not degradation.

This isn't just about protecting nature — it's about responsible planning, environmental justice, and community health. Ward 1 should not be made a dumping ground for urban waste. The people of Caledon, and beyond, have a right to clean water and a safe environment.
