My family and I are very concerned about the following:
-risk to ground water quality due to importing construction fill that has a high probability of contamination directly into an area directly connected to ground water. The potential of impacting wells and ground water over a significant area are high. If this is to go forward what steps can be put in place to ensure tracking and trace of all loads of fill? How will contaminated fill be prevented from entering areas that could result in ground water contamination? WHO will police this and how? Who is liable if people’s water or property is contaminated?
- an increase in truck traffic will exacerbate an already challenging situation in Caledon village, highway 10 and Charleston side road . How can we ensure we are safe on our roads with this additional level of truck traffic.
-Our taxes in Caledon have to pay for road maintenance and the truck traffic’s damages roads - is the company who wants to do this going to pay for the impact to our roads and infrastructure? Shouldn’t taxes on these companies be higher to cover the cost their operations drive?
