It is for this reason I add my comment regarding the proposed legisative amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act 2006 to request a slight modification not to support the Town of Wasaga Beach's Tourism Enhancement Proposal. It is for this reason the Act is in place to protect the Parks Property for now and generations to come. I would hate to see this changed after four generations of my family coming to Wasaga Beach as a Cottage Owner and as a Visitor. These lands are there for exactly this reason to protect and not destory as what is being proposed by the Ford Government and the Council of Wasaga Beach. Once removed it will never be the same and the Ford Government plans to continue with all Parks within Ontario. NO!!! He is just like Trump. Don't like the ruling and now he is trying to change things. The question becomes what can we do to make it a WIN WIN situation for everyone (Ford Gov't, Wasaga Beach Council, Residences of Wasaga Beach and the Tourist Industry (guests). Can we compromise - agree Beach Area 1 needs to be redeveloped stores, hotel, restaurants, parking etc, agreed and some ideas put forward but please leave Beach Area 1 Point ALONE. Visitors and families enjoy their days picnicing and swimming in this area. 2. Yes, Nancy Island needs some renovations to promote Tourism. 3. Construction of roadways throughout Wasaga need reviewing. 4. Transportation services require improvement throughout Wasaga and neighouring areas like Barrie and Collingwood, Stayner, etc. 4a. Parking - improved and more parking spaces. Improved processing centres for ease of access to parks. 5. Sale of Parklands major concern - No. Once one law changes there will be more and will effect all Parklands throughout Ontario. Protected by Act but some improvements re washrooms, picnic area & tables, bbq's, etc. protecting of sand dunes and the piping plover could improve beach areas. 6. Building of 3,000 new homes is extreme in this area. Can we work something out smaller as a test because it will impact the area totally. One would be a fool if they feel this wouldn't otherwise. Anyways I hear there are about 700 homes for sale in Wasaga Beach right now. Not sure if this is true. Maybe the Residences of Wasaga are not happy with the pending changes.
So that's alot of housing to fill. 7. More schools required in this area as a growing population. 8. What about improving medical facilities. I hear nothing of this as the nearest hospital is Barrie or Collingwood. Improvements in this area would certainly help. 8. Policing - require more staffing and short term facilities. Yes, what happens at Wasage Beach will set a precedent for all Parklands. One cannot come in and change the laws/act because one feels like it. That's why it is in place to protect these lands/habitat for people like FORD not to destory them so that the lands are protected for generations to come!!!!!! Like myself, my children and their children to come!! It's not all about money. We can do this together. Maybe not all of it at one time but lets try and have a WIN WIN situation for everyone. Maybe a little of this and a little of that here and there may work. Bulldozing and destroying things does not make for a positive future. Let's put a different spin on things to make it work for the Ford Government, the Wasaga Beach Councillors, the Residences of Wasaga Beach and the Daily Visitors/Tourism. Think about it and we can do this........and live with it for generations to come!!!!!!!! AGREED!!!!!!! You have my vote.
