I'm 79 years old and love getting around Toronto on my bicycle. It's good for my health and good for the environment as I don't use a car.
But I absolutely need bike lanes to do this. When I was younger I would bike in traffic without issue, but my response times were faster and I could pedal faster. No longer. (I was also more foolish)
There are many areas in Ontario that could use fewer cars and more bike lanes so that seniors would feel comfortable on a bike. We have a cottage in Muskoka but there's no way I'll bike up there without bike lanes. Too scary. I only bike in Toronto.
So I strongly disagree with this proposed legislation that unnecessarily limits the construction of bike lanes.
