I am vehemently against the proposition.
As a mother to a toddler and a person that uses all kids of transportation (ttc, bike, walk and drive) I feel like the mesures proposed will increase the risk for my family making streets even more dangerous that they are now.
My toddler deserves to be safe coming and going from school and parks. This obsession with making our roads faster is detrimental to our lives. We need to be able to be safe more than to be fast. I need to know that my kid will not die because the streets need move faster.
furthermore, I believe that this law is trying to take power away from the people that live on cities and that should be able to have their voices heard using local government. It's almost like a punch against the democracy Canadians love. Feels like a Trump move, and that's not how we do things in Canada.
We need to know that our voices are heard, that cities and towns can have their own legislation that works for each case and that respects the will of the people that live there.
