I do not support this bill, or any bill that seeks to restrict municipalities and their right to assess, study and plan for progressive and environmentally focused transportation-related infrastructure or that specifically targets existing and future planning for bike lanes. The provincial government cannot legislate away inner-city traffic gridlock via removal or banning of bike lanes. The people of this province need the building of public, mass transit infrastructure that makes it possible for cities to prioritize transportation of goods and safe alternative forms of transportation (such as bicycling) over car commuting.
