This has got to be the stupidest "plan to consolidate the province’s 36 conservation authorities into REGIONAL conservation authorities that continue to ALIGN WITH WATERSHED BOUNDARIES". Someone needs to hold the map to (Environment Minister Todd) McCarthy as he probably forgot the map scale when he flipped the map over when looking at Southern Ontario. How does the Thunder Bay LRCA "align" with the boundaries of a southern Lake Huron LRCA? There are at least 1400 (fourteen-hundred!) kilometres separation between watershed boundaries. The district of Thunder Bay will now simply be thrown into the throngs of Southern Ontario's bureaucratic process and we'll be lumped into their established rules and regulations (and most likely higher fee structures). If this legislation passes, this movement will certainly go down into history as a new era (and meaning) to McCarthyism.
