As a civil engineer, having access to a local regulatory body is a critical part of how projects get delivered in a reasonable timeframe. Our local CA has been abundantly helpful in their ability to deliver feedback and knowledge based on their local experience working within our watershed.
The proposed boundaries will increase the service extent beyond the capacity of an individual regulatory agency to reasonably administer based on best public safety practices, and required knowledge base of the local geography. Regulatory enforcement will fall on individual municipalities instead of the CA.
Ontario's current CA framework is nothing short of a spectacular regulatory triumph, and one of the most innovative and respected institutions globally. This proposed amalgamation is ill advised and should be abandoned.
