The provincial government is aware that Peel water and wastewater is a successfully run utility that current has one of the lowest utility rates in Ontario. This will increase substantially if the province takes over and specifically starts adding private ownership/partnerships. This is an ineffective and dangerous (from a water quality perspective) way to manage. I encourage the government to keep this the same. This pilot project will not work and should not have board members from the province or private entities. Board members should be existing councillors or senior management from Peel. The province previously downloaded water treatment to the municipalities and it should remain there. I am very suspicious why Peel was chosen for this pilot. The province seems uncaring about the fact that the previous dissolution of Peel caused a loss of staff and this will continue as we move to a new utility.
