The proposal to broadly merge Conservation Authorities within Ontario gives no consideration to the unique geographies, challenges and opportunities within each existing CA. Priorities for the Essex Region Conservation Authority (Windsor area), bounded by Lake St Clair, the Detroit River and Lake Erie are vastly different from a livestock-rich area such as the Grand River CA. Some CAs could be partnered with a neighbouring CA, such as Lower Thames with St Clair and ERCA, since they all are within the St Clair River/Detroit River/western Lake Erie watersheds.
But lumping all the provincial CAs into only seven super-CAs would severely dilute the beneficial local impact each one currently carries.
Please reconsider this plan to move to only 7 CAs for Ontario.
