I'm a Toronto homeowner and I strongly disapprove of this change. This is a major step backward for building safe, equitable cities. I cycle often - it's how I prefer to get around - and bike lanes are a major reason why. They keep everyone on the roads safer, not just cyclists.
Additionally, in large cities especially, it's critical that we continue to invest in cheaper and more space conscious transportation options as the city densifies. Bike lanes are an essential part of that puzzle, and yes, it sometimes does make sense to adjust motor vehicle lanes to compensate. This is best left to expert city planners and advocates in each city; not the provincial government.
