This proposed consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities is a disaster. If this is supposedly in the name is "speeding up housing," this isn't the way. Merging conservation authorities and removing local conservation rangers who know the areas, the flood plains, the geography and risks of the area, and replacing them with some distant regional office (who does not know the area!!!!) will have the opposite affect. This will SLOW permits. Besides that fact, the government needs to stop taking "short cuts" around our wildlife and ecological areas in the name of new developments. We need to work with our land and our wildlife, not against it. Merging our conservation authorities will only undermine the decades of local water shed knowledge, flood protection knowledge, environmental monitoring, and all the science based work that all local and rural communities rely on.
I DO NOT AGREE AND DO NOT CONDONE THIS PROPOSITION.
