This is yet another example of the Ford Government's disregard for environmental sustainability. Local conservation authorities don't make decisions about housing, so this is an unfounded argument. The authorities' responsibility is to oversee protection of land and water that sustains life in regions where they have expertise. To consolidate 36 conservation authorities into just 7, and replacing them with a provincial oversight agency, will leave these essential lands and waterways without protection. And consolidation will give more centralized power to those who don't have the knowledge required to make decisions in anyone's best interests except short-sighted, greedy developers. You're not fooling us into thinking this is about creating homes for Ontarians who can't afford housing.

It's shameful to see this government continue to decimate our natural world in favour of development when there's so much research and evidence showing that such development will only add to environmental damage, like flooding when wetlands are reduced or eliminated.

I took Western University's free Connecting for Climate Change Action course (https://geoenvironment.uwo.ca/undergraduate/courses/c4cca.html). I urge every elected official at Queen's Park do the same.
