As a past summer student at a conservation authority I feel the consolidation of CAs into 7 regions would require restructuring that doesn’t make sense for the intended goal. If fast tracking development projects is the goal, create another piece of legislation that reduces requirements needed to gain approval, not a full restructuring of the conservation authorities that do much more than approve development permits. Creating a region head would reduce local knowledge especially in regards to watershed management. As someone who has worked with a conservation authority, I cannot comprehend how this restructuring will affect my potential summer employment and that of my coworkers. Will the number of employees be reduced? Is the general manager being removed?
