This is an incredibly shortsighted proposal that places the health or this province's people and environment in jeopardy. Conservation Authorities in their current capacity are able to protect our drinking water and manage areas with flood risks. Those are two highly important duties, but Conservation Authorities have many other important responsibilities that help both the people and ecosystems that are in their care. Conservation authorities are able to accomplish this by knowing their jurisdictions intimately.

Consolidation from 36 to 7 Conservation authorities would result in destruction. Larger regional Conservation Authorities would remove the local knowledge of how ecosystems function, resulting in severe environmental damage that would affect everyone's health.

The contents of this proposal are dangerous for human and environmetal health. This proposal should go no further. I cannot emphasize enough how foolhardy this is, do not go forward with this.
