Conservation authorities were created to protect people and the environment. That should continue to be the priority, not pushing through permits as fast as possible without proper analysis of new development projects. The proposed amalgamation will make it harder for local expertise to influence policy decisions. A one size fits all approach to dozens of watersheds with local needs will not guarantee the protection of people and environment
