This is incredibly ill advised in my opinion. The conservation authorities need to be small and agile enough to protect the lands that they steward. Consolidation and amalgamation has only even had extremely short yet cost benefits associated with it, services, and this case the protection of our most vital resources, would suffer to save a few dollars. How about stop lifting tolls of highways in the GTA, or sending out $200 bribe checks and keeping the taxes collected to fund important things like distinct conservation authorities. The thought that this government thinks someone far from my region would be competent enough to protect my region simply from staring at numbers on a screen is is quite wild. I’m all for making things more efficient, but this isn’t an area that you should be consolidating.
