Hello,
I am NOT in agreement with the Ford government's plan to merge the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority (LRCA) with the Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority . I am from Thunder Bay and we have unique environmental needs. The Huron-Superior Regional Conservation authority is 1500 km away from us and it does not make sense that they should be making decisions about our local environment, with no watershed or municipal connection. The LRCA is an exceptional organization that has done a lot for the community of Thunder Bay, and it would be a shame if it were to be amalgamated with another organization. Through a merger, the distinctive needs of Northwestern Ontario will be lost, and there will be a lack of representation. I support LRCA’s recommendation that the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority form a stand-alone regional conservation authority as the “Northwestern Ontario Regional Conservation Authority”.
