I, Aranya Iyer, resident of Thunder Bay, am OPPOSED to the Province’s proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six other Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the “Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority”. I support LRCA’s recommendation that the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority form a stand-alone regional conservation authority as the “Northwestern Ontario Regional Conservation Authority”.
Your actions are gutting the very important, preventative work that these conservation authorities are doing. It is going to leave us severely without resources to handle the changes brought on by climate change. We are lucky to live in a province which such great access to fresh water - DO NOT THROW IT DOWN THE METAPHORICAL DRAIN by amalgamating the CAs. That is incredibly short sighted. Any short term gains will be significantly cancelled out by all long-term catastrophes this would ensue. Please take this into consideration. Do not amalgamate.
