The TOC proposal for Midtown Oakville is excessive. By contrast, the Town's OPA is the result of massive, iterative input from residents, professionals and various agencies. It more than meets the density and job targets the province seeks while aligning with the Town's Official Plan. It recognizes that Midtwon will straddle our major North South transit corridor as well ascthd GO corridor, and must integrate seamlessly with transportation planning, not only for the final community as planned, but during what will be a lengthy construction phase as well. Finally the TOC relies far too heavily on the small footprint residential units which have proliferated in Toronto and are now losing value and are unwanted by the public. As conceived at present, the TOC will do nothing but cut the town in half. It needs to be rejected along with the idea of MZOs to force it through.
