I do not support this proposal, this is not an evidence based decision but a financial one, and not an effective one. Conservation authorities provide important services to their communities and rely on local community relationships. Each conservation authority has different ecological needs and concerns for both the environment and the residents. Each conservation authority, no matter how small provides important work to the people and environment they serve. This merger will make local decision making harder, and will likely negatively impact the environment, conservation authorities are important to ensure where construction is started it won’t harm the environment. Further, I support the comments submitted by the Hamilton conservation authority, who provide strong local decision making, which is incredibly important for communities and for the environment.
