The Oakville TOC plan by the Ford gov't is so stupid beyond belief it can only be planned as a result of Doug cutting an illegal deal with the developer. Why can't Ford instead approve the Town of Oakville plan that has been put forward for the area that more than meets the provincial housing plans? Oakville has to date shown that our plans and actual results exceed the province's housing requirements.
How can the minister sleep at night approving such a gross over density plan that does not satisfy the criteria that her own government has set for what should be any TOC plan?
Imposing the TOC on Oakville would result in the destruction of a hotel, a Home Depot, a grocery store, multiple local restaurants and other small businesses and increase the need for people to drive their cars to access these services.
The developer has said they will be adding roads as part of the development but this ignores the fact that it is the existing Town roads cannot handle today's traffic, never mind that will come from 1000's of condo units.
Overall the only way Oakville TOC seems possible to proceed as designed is that Ford has cut an illegal deal with the developer - here's hoping the Star and the provincial auditor dig into this issue and expose the truth
