I oppose this motion because consolidation will stretch resources thinly across all conservation authorities despite giving each one even more land area and watersheds to oversee. The 36 conservation authorities are also individual experts on their land area, however, grouping 5 or more of them together will create more confusion and risks sacrificing the voice and power of the local authorities. The province also has not indicated how board members will be selected and how funding will be allocated.
