I am opposed to the consolidation and expansion of the Conservation areas in Hamilton and the surrounding municipalities.
"Bigger" is not always better. "Consolidating" does not always create efficiencies. In the past, many similar actions have not resulted in the benefits claimed. What is wrong with the current systems of localized boards? They have been working effectively. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. I would expect that a loss of localized knowledge, and a reduction in the voice that Hamilton will have in these matters. The consolidated board will be too far up, and too far away to listen to our concerns.
Lastly, if I may be frank - I do not trust the Province to do this properly and protect the environment. The fiasco of trying to get away with building on the greenbelt was the tipping point for me.
I would thank you for leaving things as they are - working properly.
