The boundaries of the new amalgamation areas are too far. It’s not even the same type of forest in the north vs south Boreal to Carolinian. How do we expect one group to monitor the health of such a vast area? The forest deserves a voice that is relevant. The people closest to it are the ones that will notice the health of the forest decline. If we wait for someone from 7 hours away to notice it may be too late. The amalgamation of towns and services has ended up with poorer services spread too thin for too many people. I work in healthcare and have seen the decline both in southern Ontario (Grey Bruce) as well as northern Ontario (Cochrane and Temiskaming having 1 main Public Health Office is insane..so many people cannot travel 6 hours for care as many do not have primary healthcare providers) Please do not do this with our forests too.
