The proposed plan is a disaster. It disregards the character of Oakville and would make it harder for current residence to access transit as the traffic by Oakville gas station would make it impossible to reach in a timely manner. It goes against plans to create communities with higher paid employment, so everybody is not having to commute into Toronto.
I just don’t understand why the province forces targets on existing municipalities instead of taking a more innovative approach and building a new city from the ground up somewhere along one of the train lines. This would be like Neom where it was built as a transit friendly community from the get-go.
All the current plan does is put a bunch of small condos for singles and couples on top of the go station without considering where they’re going to work or play and what amenities they need - and certainly gives no consideration for the 200,000 current Oakville residents.
