Buildings that are skyscrapers are not appropriate for a community outside of our large urban cities. In Oakville we need more low-rise affordable housing in walkable hubs where food retail and services are co-located not congested high rise towers that crush the capacity of the infrastructure.
This government hasn't and isn't engaging in meaningful stakeholder consultation so why would this be different. What data tells you this is a good idea other than the promise of profit? Show me the web links that support the need for these towers.
Perhaps if we put regulatory limits on housing used as investment and vacation rentals we would have the housing stock we need? How many homes are sitting empty any given day in Ontario? That would be interesting to consider.
Be warned, Oakville will and has crushed the reputation of a political party that forces unwanted living conditions on our communities. Democracy works when politicians do not force their will and genuinely collaborate.
