Imposition of an MZO on the Town of Oakville to force the TOC developments as planned will place undue stress on traffic flows, other transportation modalities, infrastructure, amenities such as schools and parks, and the surrounding areas around the development in an entirely negative way.

I understand from Town of Oakville communications that Ministers Flack and McCarthy have indicated their willingness to travel to Oakville by GO Train. To observe the current dismal and hazardous state of traffic around the Oakville GO Station during peak travel times, I would suggest that they travel from Toronto Union on the express run that leaves Union at 5:00 and arrives in Oakville at 5:32. To get the full experience, upon arrival in Oakville, they would walk to a car parked in either the outdoor surface parking lot on the north side of the GO Station or in the multi-level parking garage on the south side of the tracks. Their destination would be somewhere north of the Queen Elizabeth Way. That way, they would have the full gridlock experience at the intersection of Trafalgar Road and Cross Avenue, or at the intersection of Cornwall Road and Trafalgar Road.

Once that experience has been embraced, project the impact of an additional estimated 12,000 residents on those traffic flows during non-peak hours, and then during peak hours.

Gridlock at either of these intersections is frustrating and potentially dangerous for drivers, but it can be fatal for anyone waiting for an emergency responder - fire, ambulance or police - to get to their location.

To mitigate this impact, and the others mentioned, I urge all parties to consider the Town of Oakville's Official Plan Amendment 70 as a more appropriate means of moving forward with development of all of Oakville's Midtown Core.
