I do not support Doug Ford's proposed changes to the conservation authority (CA) system. By taking away our local NPCA authority and placing it under the direction of the provincial government this ensures that local concerns will not be addressed adequately. It ensures that "provincial priorities" of building roads, housing or golf courses through sensitive conservation lands will be able to happen easier, despite the impacts on local environments. In no way will a provincial body have the historical knowledge or ability to understand the concerns of Niagara better than our local NPCA.

Each area is unique and this one size fits all approach by Mr. Ford will only benefit him, his friends and developers, not the communities. A new Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency is a make work project that will increase time and costs by adding another government layer. A team of "experts" will be hired, each with an exorbitant salary, to run this agency. They in turn will hire "expert consultants" to provide costly reports for them to review in order to appear like they are completing their due diligence before handing down a ruling that disregards local needs but algins with the current provincial politics.

This change will NOT benefit our community or environment and I am against it.
