Our natural area is very important to us in Rural Ontario. Our conservation area serves us well and manages our sites that bring tourists in, while maintaining our natural environment. This move takes the voice of local people away. It increases the area covered by the conservation authority so that our local voices are no longer heard. Instead, we are once again, run from Toronto.
Many of us landowners also work with the conservation authority to manage our own rural properties. With this proposal, we will lose a trusted partner in land management.
Living in rural Ontario, our land management is extremely important to us. Taking away our right to manage our natural environment shows a lack of trust in rural voters, and a desire to silence our voices.
