I agree with Hamilton Conservation Authority’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community.
The Board of Directors represents the people and increasing the jurisdiction or each body will reduce the time and attention to each area currently managed by Conservation Authorities.
It makes more fiscal sense to use the funds that would be needed for this merger and name change to provide small CAs with the resources needed to modernize their systems in tantum with the larger CAs.
This proposed amalgamation will make development permitting take longer as organizations have to reorient themselves within the larger jurisdiction.
Local decisions need to remain with local authorities not provincial bodies.
