I am concerned that the proposed consolidation of Ontario's Conservation Authorities will not be beneficial to the Province or its people. I am concerned that it will result in the loss of local expertise and knowledge, and make it more difficult for the new Regional Conservation Authorities to maintain local connections. Furthermore, this will also likely reduce local decision making, as Regional Conservation Authorities will be needed to balance the needs of many regions and municipalities.
The Province's stated goals for consolidating Ontario's Conservation Authorities would be better accomplished through other means than merging the Conservation Authorities.
