The proposed consolidation of Conservation Authorities fundamentally undermines their purpose and ability to manage specific watersheds with local knowledge and expertise. The motivation for the consolidation appears to have little or nothing to do with improved management of watersheds and related ecology, but to skirt regulations. As an Ontario resident it is near impossible to place any trust in the intentions of this government with its record of corruption, disregard for environmental protections and repeated use of omnibus bills to pass legislation that enriches the few to the detriment of Ontarians.
