The amalgamation of the SSMRCA would undermine the strength of a system that works precisely because it is local, independent, and deeply connected to the land and community it serves. Our ski, bike, hiking trails rely on this conservation land, and their access, and long-term sustainability depend on dedicated, responsive, and accountable local oversight by people who understand the unique environmental, recreational, and cultural value of our area. A larger, amalgamated authority risks diluting local priorities, slowing decision-making, and shifting focus away from the needs of our users who depend on this land year-round.
