Hello,
As decades-long residents of Oakville, my family and I strongly oppose a development of the magnitude considered at Trafalgar and Cross. This is already a highly congested traffic area and a development potentially adding 16,000 inhabitants in the immediate area will make it unliveable. There is no plan to absorb such an influx of people and cars in an area already overwhelmed.
Furthermore, Oakville is happily adding taller high-density housing to its development plan. However, nearly a dozen buildings up to 59 stories have no place in this area. It is simply too much. While it certainly makes sense to add some reasonable housing in proximity to the public transit in this area, there is a limit as to how much is logical.
It's very clearly that the Oakville population and town council do not approve of a development this size. Oakville is already contributing strongly to the addition of housing in Ontario. The demand for such aggressive housing developments is clearly currently at a low - witness the sagging condo sales in the GTA and a recently failed condo project in Bronte. The Province's strong arm approach to forcing this unwanted development on the Town and it population are deplorable.
This development should be scaled back to a manageable size.
