I have grown deeply concerned about the Ford government's lack of care and concern for local ecosystems. The plan to consolidate our conservation authorities demonstrates a lack of understanding of the complexities of local climate zones and ecosystems, and the work required to maintain them. Watersheds and wetlands are vital not only to native species, but to the health of our communities. Paired with Bill 5, I cannot help but feel like this new legislation is part of Ford's favourite hobby - cutting "red tape" and steamrolling the agency of environmental authorities to help his developer buddies. When is enough scandal enough? After the Greenbelt, Ontario Place, rolling back the SARA, I urge this government to listen to the people and keep Ontario's 36 conservation authorities as they are.
