I do not agree with this proposal and I do not think consolidating the conservation authorities would have enough positives to outweigh the real and significant consequences.
Conservation authorities are one of Ontario’s best tools for balancing the province’s urgent housing needs with watershed protection and climate resilience. Watershed decisions should be based on science, geography, and local hydrology, not on overly large administrative boundaries. The proposed consolidated regions are too large to remain effective and responsive to local needs.
