I just don't see that this move to consolidate conservation authorities is necessary. As far as I can see, and I was involved in a conservation group when I lived in Oakville, the conservation authorities do a good job. I think it is telling that so many municipal governments are opposed to this change. I feel that too many decisions are being removed from local decision making and local involvement is the chance for citizens to be truly involved in the future of their city or town. This government seems to be moving away from democracy by centralizing too many decisions and overriding local concerns. Examples would be MZOs.
The CAs are necessary but need to remain local.
