We are a massive country. Ontario is a massive province. I think the amalgamation of conservation authorities is misguided. My fear is it eliminates environmental checks and balances that come with local knowledge and awareness. It put our most valuable resources, soil and water at risk. Unfortunately, I think that is the Ford governments end game. Stripping awareness and thoughtful management means development can be railroaded through. Although, not opposed to development I think we have all learned that this governments goal is to line the pockets of its wealthy supporters and themselves. Amalgamating a few authorities together whom share the same watershed possibly (ie Upper and Lower Thames) but I think this is a partisan proposal with no thought to the future.
